Hi everyone,

I have a Janome Memory Craft 5700 which I love, however, I have never used the embroidery feature. I had a friend show me and I am now motivated to start embroidering! Our local basketball club is my first project - they want some t-shirts embroidered with their club logo. Is there a way or program available to convert a normal picture (say a .jpg file) to a .SEW file, or is this something that needs to be professionally done?

I believe that there are programs that will do it - and I think that the newer machines actually have these that come with them and they can be hooked into your computer.

Have you checked the Janome website - www.janome.com

Can one of our machine embroiderers help further?

Hi Sassie
I also have a 5700 and love it....I have tried the embroidery and love that. Most of the designs I have are freebies from Embroidery sites. But I also purchased Embird and Pre-Design and will try making my own designs. There are many programs and software out there.
Have fun.

Hi there are a number of programs that do this, Embird is one, some others come from Bernina, Husqvarna, Pfaff and there is another one whose name at present escapes me. There are some others, but the ones above are probably the best. Embird is probably the cheapest. It is not easy to learn how to use these programs, and I suggest you ask your dealer if he/she knows of embroidery groups. Join one and see if someone is willing to start showing you the ropes. If the basketball club wants the shirts before 2007 I suggest you ask your dealer if they know someone who is willing to do the conversion for a fee. Make sure the design is done in jeff or sew and tried out in that format. Translations from one digital language into another has sometimes startling unwanted results. You can reply to me, I am based in Australia, but I am only a sporadic visitor to this forum.
