Hi Angie, glad to be back on this forum, it has been over a Year now. I have a question to ask you, if I can explain myself. Many times I have noticed that the A meaning to in spanish is used before an infinitive Verb. If the infinitive of a verb means to do something, why is it necessary to put the letter A to the infinitive Verb? Also, how many Verbs require this format? I hope I have made any sense explaining myself. Thanks for your help.
Umpaw.

Hola, Umpaw!! I understood it, ;-)

Ok, we have the "expression" 'to go to + infinitive':

'Voy a comer una hamburguesa'

'I'm going to eat...'

This is a common use: "IR A + INFINITIVE".

There are other uses as:

A comer!, a form of command, meaning something like 'Let's eat!' or 'Do eat!'.

Hope this helps!

Hola!

In fact, the translation for "un idioma" is "a language", and the translation for "idiom" is "modismo".

Well, this is not an idiom.

If you want to "experiment" idioms, you can go to:

It is a Spanish idioms generator.
