CC, girl, hello! Glad to see you! Franny, when I experiment with lipstick for blush, or to add just a hint of color near my eyes, I admit, I tend to apply the product with my fingers...now, CC, don't start slapping my hand! I'm always sporting freshly washed phalanges when doing this! It's just that often, the old brushes/applicators just don't do the job. And Franny, with the lipstick as eyeshadow, I don't spread the product on my entire above-eye area...usually it's just a very light touch, to give some oomph! Same with the lipstick as blush...But, really, using the lip color on the cheeks or as eye oomph-erizer, calls for a light and very small amount, as to application, and then, thorough blending. When I discover a lipstick that works for blush and eye enhancement, as well as looking good on my lips, I purchase two of the product...one for lips, one for cheeks and eyes. Oh, and I think I read where someone asked about the green eyeliner? To enhance brown eyes? I like the Sage green one, by L'Oreal. http://www.intouchwithjeannine.com

Jeannine, would you say a dark or light green eyeliner looks better on dark brown eyes? I have a fair complexion so I think that may play a part in what I should use...I didn't even know there was so many different shades of green until I checked it out today...lol
Have you ever tried using eyeshadow as an eyeliner?

Any tips for making 40yo green eyes look younger? I have avoided eye makeup for years because it creases and rubs off within hours. I tried nearly every eyeshadow/cream on the market as well as creams meant to solve this problem but none worked. Now that I am older I would like to do something that makes my eyes look younger.
Thank you!! Kay

Hi Franny...Yep, I've often used eye shadow as eyeliner. When I was younger, I would apply the shadow line wet, but now, I prefer applying the shadow-as-liner in its dry form. I simply use a little eyeliner brush, and I make sure its a soft look I achieve. As far as light or dark green liner for brown eyes, I opt for muted shades of colors such as Sage, or gray/green. The light greens are too in-your-face light, Franny. You'd end up not enhancing those brown eyes of yours, so that people notice them, but, merely giving the eyeliner color a base from which to shout, 'LOOK! Look at Franny's eyeliner color!' Bepart, I have had problems with eye shadows too. The powder ones can look really bad on a mature woman, and so many of the cremes just don't last, or they seem to gather into the eye crease. I find Revlon's creme eyeshadows work pretty well. Applying them lightly, not over-doing it, also helps their stay-ability. Too much, and that excess wants to go hide in the nearest crease! Also, if you like powder shadows, try mixing a bit with a touch of your moisturizer, then applying. I do this by applying the moistruizer first to a brush or sponge-tip applicator, and then applying the brush/applicator to my shadow, mixing in a slight, light, circular motion. Then I apply, to my eye area, sparingly, and blend a bit with a brush. I find this works for me. Colors that should revive those lovely green eyes are muted ones such as a soft mauve, salmon, or taupe. Look for Revlon's new cosmetic line, Vital Radiance, tailored for the mature woman. Their eye shadow colors and eyeliner colors are more subdued and natural looking: http://vitalradiance.com/pg/main/proddet...s&prd=28536 http://www.intouchwithjeannine.com

Thanks, Jeannine...:) I see what you mean by the light green eyeliner...lol Also, that's a great tip to put a touch of moisturizer before applying the shadow...Do you do this with the eyeliner as well? I can never get the eyeliner to stay on..

What a great thread- keep the tips coming. Not really a tip per say but I am a big fan of the makeup artists at Sephora. I really trust them over the department store counter reps I've come across.

FashionFiend, glad you enjoy this thread, and we hope to keep ya comin' back. If you've found a really good, particular makeup brand pusher, counter makeup-artist, it's probably a one in a million find! I've seen a woman literally run from the area, to the nearest Ladies room, in order to remove the 'mardi-gras-like mask' the counter-artist has just finished applying to her face! http://www.intouchwithjeannine.com

Yes, there is one great woman at my local Sephora. Her story of how she got into makeup is pretty cool too.
She was in law school and used to do makeup for her undergraduate school's cheerleader squad (she'd been on the squad as a student there). Some of the squad members asked her to do their makeup for formals and were willing to pay. The woman wasn't enjoying law school so she became a makeup artist.

Jeannine - Thanks for the tips. I am still trying to locate the Vital Radiance products that you mentioned. The stores where I shop do not have them stocked yet...hopefully soon. If not, I am sure I can find them online. Thanks again!
