Yes you are overthinking this, but since you are the only one playing I will let you know, you are completely cold! It has nothing to do with how Jennens came up with the words.

Hint: There are 2 mistakes very close together!

Question #2

Find the 3 mistakes in this statement;

While George Friedrich Handel wrote the music for Messiah, the words actually came from [color:"red"]his longtime friend, [color:"purple"] (a friend and sometimes partner.) [color:"red"] Charles Jennings. [color:"blue"](It's Charles Jennens.) Many debate that the words were inspired by scriptures; [color:"red"]such as The Hallelujah Chorus which is the grand finale of this famous oratorio. [color:"blue"] (Messiah is written in 3 parts and "The Hallelujah Chorus" comes at the end of Part 2.) While others say that the lyrics were completely original. in all likelihood, it was a combinationf of the twoThe argument is that he either used Jennens' libretto, or scripture...not a combination of the two.

2nd hint: Check your titles!

I'm sorry! I didn't mean to make this so tricky. <img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />
It's a lot easier from this side of things! <img src="/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

Yes! You got it!
Whew! I really didn't mean to make that a trick question. <img src="/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> It's my first forum contest. <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

OK, that's 2 correct for RennaissanceWoo, and it looks like she's gonna take this thing in a sweep!

For those of you who weren't paying attention, the answers were:
Charles Jennens (not Jennings)
"Hallelujah" (not "The Hallelujah Chorus")
"Hallelujah" is at the end of the 2nd section (not the Finale)

LoL! Yippee! At first, I couldn't find your "Messiah" article. Then I found the "previous features" link! I actually had checked the title, but against another article I was reading and that article called it "The Hallelujah Chorus"! No wonder I was so confused! LoL! I tricked my own self. Hehe.

Hope everyone else plays along too. I'm feeling pretty lonesome here.

Question #3

A Symphony Orchestra is divided into these 4 major categories:
Percussion, Woodwinds, Brass, & Strings.

Which category(s) would the pipa and the tabla fall into?

Pipa would be strings (it's a Chinese lute)
Tabla would be percussion (they're like bongos.... I think they're Indian)

Exactly right Megan!

The Pipa is a plucked handheld harp - so is strings
The Tabla are a pair of drums (one large, one small) - so are percussion

That's 2 for RenaissanceWoo
and 1 for Megan_Romer
