Guys,

yes, this would be a distraction from our usual EE forum. For these of you Poles who love hearing about America more than anything else.

Did you notice, that the majority of times when tornado strucks it destroys so called mobil houses? The mobil houses is a way of life in America for middle to poor people and these who move a lot. Leaving in the mobile house is a bit like in a wagon....

I just wanted to show these who idolize America that the life here is not that easy and simple

below is the photo from the last tornado that strcuk Indiana

Actually there is a difference between a mobile home and a trailer. Trailer is still a worse type of the house.

Here is a picture of a mobil house - when I saw plenty of houses like that in Texas I was pretty shocked. This is not really a dream America

We are blessed having none of these tornadoes, earthquaqes, tsunamee, tarantulas or tigers in Poland.
Can't even imagine thinking about tiger jumping on my head when picking mushrooms in da forest. <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Those are pretty typical photos and accurate comments you posted, Jaga. Trailer homes can be a first step up in home ownership in America, but it seems there is a solid lower middle class of working poor who can afford no better. In the worst of circumstances they are looked down upon and refered to as "trailer trash".

Quite a few of these pre-fabricated and transportable homes have been talked about as at least temproary replecemnts for homes lost to Hurricane Katrina. When the quality is good, theywill serve well. When the quality is bad, they will quickly deteriorate adn still be used for decades as sub-standard housing. I hope we are careful with the reconstuction! Perhaps one or two Americans will look upon this reconstruction as America's reaction to the same problems in houseing Europe faced after WW II, when so many of the pre-cast concrete buidlings were constructed in central and eastern Europe.

What has amazed me all my life is that "trailer courts" or neighborhoods of trailers seem to be a magnet for tornados. Perhaps it is because they are concentrated close to one antoher, and when a tornado hits one the results are particularly disasterous.

I don't dispute Jaga's comments, but there are also very fancy mobile homes - "double-wides" and very upscale places. Still, I lived in a small trailer for 3 months in Texas and it was not a pleasant experience (graduate students are beggars, not choosers, for accomodations).

My theory about tornadoes and trailer parks is that in addition to being closely packed, the trailers have no foundations or anchors so get blown away pretty easily.
