Oh my! I just took this test, but I don't think I will share the results ---suffice it to say it was disconcertingly accurate. I think I need a nap ... or a shrink...

And I think Forza'a results, as least as far as:

is correct, since I recall he was always trying to get Raytan and Leslie to stop fighting.

I think you are Raytan under a different name! You might have known I would have a go at this. I won't comment on the results!

Your Existing Situation
Readily participates in things affording excitement or stimulation. Wants to feel exhilarated. (true)
Your Stress Sources
Feels that life has far more to offer and that there are still important things to be achieved--that life must be experienced to the fullest. As a result, he pursues his objectives with a fierce intensity that will not let go of things. Becomes deeply involved and runs the risk of being unable to view things with sufficient objectivity, or calmly enough; is therefore in danger of becoming agitated and of exhausting his nervous energy. Cannot leave things alone and feels he can only be at peace when he has finally reached his goal. ( That's me)
Your Restrained Characteristics
The situation is preventing him from establishing himself, but he feels he must make the best of things as they are.
Able to achieve satisfaction through sexual activity but restless and inclined to be emotionally withdrawn, which prevents him from becoming deeply involved. (Rubbish)
Feels that things stand in his way, that circumstances are forcing him to compromise and forgo some pleasures for the time being. (oh, how true)

Thanks for this bit of fun. In another posting I will try to lead in a Personality Test - I've got to get my own back somehow!
Leslie

Your Desired Objective
Needs a change in his circumstances or in his relationships which will permit relief from stress. Seeking a solution which will open up new and better possibilities and allow hopes to be fulfilled.
Your Actual Problem
The fear that he may be prevented from achieving the things he wants leads him into a relentless search for satisfaction in the pursuit of illusory or meaningless activities.

Ha ha, I would agree with the beginning of the test because I am insecure by nature but... this is all about feelings! Too much. I believe that the test is slanted depending on gender. I am not sure though that I am searching for something easy, I am sometimes stressed because I feel I want to know everything about everything!!! Starting from nuclear physics and finishing on Polish (or African for a change) culture. Below is for you to judge...

here are mine:
Your Existing Situation
Insecure. Seeks roots, stability, emotional security, and an environment providing greater ease and fewer problems

Your Stress Sources
Wants to overcome a feeling of emptiness and to bridge the gap which she feels separates herself from others. Anxious to experience life in all its aspects, to explore all its possibilities, and to live it to the fullest. She therefore resents any restriction or limitation being imposed on her and insists on being free and unhampered.

Your Restrained Characteristics
Has high emotional demands and is willing to involve herself in a close relationship, but not with any great depth of feeling.
Believes that she is not receiving her share--that she is neither properly understood or adequately appreciated. Feels that she is being compelled to conform, and close relationships leave her without any sense of emotional involvement.

Your Desired Objective
Takes easily and quickly to anything which provides stimulation. Preoccupied with things of an intensely exciting nature, whether erotically stimulating or otherwise. Wants to be regarded as an exciting and interesting personality with an altogether charming and impressive influence on others. Uses tactics cleverly so as to avoid endangering her chances of success or undermined others' confidence in herself.

Your Actual Problem
Seeks to avoid criticism and to prevent restriction of her freedom to act, and to decide for herself by the exercise of great personal charm in her dealings with others.

Your Actual Problem #2
Has a fear that she might be prevented from achieving the things she wants. This leads her to employ great personal charm in her dealings with others, hoping that this will make it easier for her to reach her objectives.

chris's Existing Situation
Unable to exert the efforts to achieve her objectives. Feels neglected, desiring greater security, warm affection, and fewer problems.

chris's Stress Sources
Unfulfilled hopes have lead to uncertainty and a tense watchfulness. Insists on freedom of action and resents any form of control other than which is self-imposed. Unwilling to go without or to relinquish anything and demands security as a protection against any further setback or loss of position or prestige. Doubts that things will be any better in the future and this negative attitude leads her to exaggerate her claims and to refuse reasonable compromises.

chris's Restrained Characteristics
Feels cut off and unhappy because of the difficulty in achieving the essential degree of cooperation and harmony which she desires.
The situation is preventing her from establishing herself, but she feels she must make the best of things as they are.

chris's Desired Objective
Needs to feel identified with someone or something and wishes to win support by her charm and amiability. Sentimental and yearns for a romantic tenderness.

chris's Actual Problem
Seeks to avoid criticism and to prevent restriction of her freedom to act, and to decide for herself by the exercise of great personal charm in her dealings with others.

chris's Actual Problem #2
Disappointment and the fear that there is no point in formulating fresh goals have led to anxiety, and she is distressed by the lack of any close and understanding relationship. She attempts to escape into a substitute world in which things are more nearly as she desires them to be.

Oh my God...how true is this and you guys are my escape

Come on Nancy, come out of your frustration shell and let us know what the colours said about you! BTW does it identify almost everybody, particularly women as frustrated in some way?
It's a good laugh anyway, even if so much of it is true. Nancy, you didn't expect ME not to comment once I had reread it, did you?!
I don't know whether you come across this in the States, but a development from Kolb, is the Learning Styles Questionnaire of Peter Honey and Alan Mumford. It will probably be found more in training circles, but it is very strongly validated. The end result is more than just how you prefer to learn, but I think it identifies a lot about you as a person in life. The questionnaire responses score you out of 20 for each of four styles -Activist, Reflector, Theorist and Pragmatist. The nearer 20, the stronger influence on you has that (or those) particular preferences.
Believe it or not, I came out as 19 Activist, 8 Reflector, 8 Theorist and 9 Pragmatist. This was some time ago that I did it first, before I wrote my first book which had taken me quite a struggle to get down to - I wonder why?!!
An Activist will jump in and have a go at anything - it doesn't matter whether it has any value, and will flit from one thing to another. A Pragmatist is the opposite, only doing things that have a practical, specific, end value , usually work-related. The strong Reflector sits and thinks about what has happened or what is to happen, usually for so long that life has passed by. The Theorist allows the same thing to happen but because they want to know Why, Why, Why, Why all the time that all this delving gets in the way of doing. The idea of course is a balanced result of all the styles. This Questionnaire changed my life substantially and realising that I had to sit and think and work out what I was doing, how deeply I should go, and what the stages were in which I should progress, enabled me to write that first book - that was 22 years ago and that first book, in several editions is still selling! So some 'personality' tests have value.
Leslie (who now sits and thinks about what he should do - but then doesn't do that because it doesn't sound fun!)

Okay, here's mine - - - Yikeeees

Your Existing Situation

Seeks to share a bond of understanding intimacy in an esthetic atmosphere of peace and tenderness.

Your Stress Sources

Wants to overcome a feeling of emptiness and to bridge the gap which he feels separates himself from others. Anxious to experience life in all its aspects, to explore all its possibilities, and to live it to the fullest. He therefore resents any restriction or limitation being imposed on him and insists on being free and unhampered.

Your Restrained Characteristics

Feels cut off and unhappy because of the difficulty in achieving the essential degree of cooperation and harmony which he desires.

Wants to broaden his fields of activity and insists that his hopes and ideas are realistic. Distressed by the fear that he may be prevented from doing what he wants; needs both peaceful conditions and quiet reassurance to restore his confidence.

Very exacting in the standards he applies to his choice of a partner and seeking a rather unrealistic perfection in his sex life.

Willing to become emotionally involved and able to achieve satisfaction through sexual activity, but tries to avoid conflict.

Your Desired Objective

Wants to make a favorable impression and be regarded as a special personality. Is therefore constantly on the watch to see whether on the watch to see whether he is succeeding in this and how others are reacting to him; this makes him feel he is in control. Uses tactics cleverly in order to obtain influence and special recognition. Susceptible to the esthetic or original.

Your Actual Problem

Strongly resists outside influence and any interference with his freedom to make his own decisions and plans. Works to establish and strengthen his own position.

Your Actual Problem #2

Afraid that he may be prevented from achieving the things he wants and therefore demands that others should recognize his right to them.

Interesting pop test. It helps to read the instructions as you go. I started by not liking the shades of colors they displayed, feeling there are more pleasant shades of most colors shown. (can't think of shades of black...) Then they took their revenge and the first run though I came out sounding as if I would be best finding a cave and doing a hermit act.

After going back and reading instructions I waited the allotted time between tests and came up with:

Your Existing Situation
Volatile and outgoing. Needs to feel that events are developing along desired lines, otherwise irritation can lead to changeability or superficial activities.

Your Stress Sources
Wishes to be independent, unhampered, and free from any limitation or restriction, other than those which he imposes of himself or by his own choice and decision.

Your Restrained Characteristics
Relationships rarely measure up to his high emotional expectations and his need to be made the center of things, leading to disappointment . Always has mental reservations and tends to remain emotionally isolated and unattached.
The situation is preventing him from establishing himself, but he feels he must make the best of things as they are.

Egocentric and therefore quick to take offense. Sensitive and sentimental, but conceals this from all except those very close to him.

Your Desired Objective
Seeks freedom from problems and a secure state of physical ease in which to relax and recover.

Your Actual Problem
Seeks security and a position in which he will no longer be troubled by demands being made on him.

Leslie & All,

Try the Kolb test again & see how you may have changed. For what it is worth,
http://knowledge.cs.pub.ro/Kolb/index.aspx

I am primarily "convergent". Is that the opposite of "scattered" or "scatter brained"?
Kai

I took the test Kai suggested. The categories seem to have different names than the ones Leslie mentioned. Here are my results:

Your principal learning type is:
Assimilative
relies on abstract conceptualisation and reflective observation
strengths in inductive reasoning and creating theoretical models
ability to assimilate disparate observations into an integrated explanation
concerned with ideas and abstract concepts

Nancy,
Yes the terms and descriptions in Honey/Mumford are different from Kolb. Kolb came along first, but few peole use it nowadays apart from researchers. Honey and Mumford wanted something that people could more easily relate to in their real lives, and the Learning Style Questionnaire developed from this - now fully validated by thousands - or at least validated as far as any pen and paper test can be when people's inner selves are concerned. I'm still very much an Activist and pleased to be as it is much more fun!You trained in science didn't you, and kept it up - a true assimilator! I found people were much more interesting than things which is why I switched from astronomy/physics to all sorts of people activities. In Honey's LSQ it sounds as if you would come out as a strong Reflector/Theorist.
Chacun a son gout - n'est-ce pas?

Yes, that's me all right - I overthink everything with my over-developed left brain. That must be why I analyze all of your posts, Leslie!

My puny creative right-side-brain is screaming to be let out to play, but the left side beats it silly every time.

I tried to re-take the color quiz because I did not save yesterday's results -but it won't even show me the results today - lol - well, back to reflecting and analyzing.
