To get a bit of a community feel here, this thread will be for anyone to introduce themselves to the rest of the board. I will start the head rolling! As the Editor of this section, you can find out more on my bio page, but needless to say I enjoy most horror movies. I began watching oldies on the TV before I was old enough to rent the decent ones, then went on to being a 'gorehound' and watched as many as I could get my hands on and have finally graduated to being a true film fan with a special place in my heart for horror. If I had to pick a fav, it would be a close call between Evil Dead 2 and Suspiria. Right! Off you go!

Hi Andy! I've always been a horror buff, too. My first memories (of horror) are of spending Friday nights watching TBS (this is before Ted Turner became a household name, and was only known here in Georgia).
We would always order in pizza (only Pizza Hut back then). 1st on was Twilight Zone, then Night Gallery (my personal favorite) then the horror movie of the week. Since this was TV (pre-HBO) it was usually something with Vincent Price, Abbot & Costello, all the classic horror films.
Then I got interestes in Horror lit, per Stephen King & Dean Koontz, and all was lost.
I still prefer the intellectuals to the blood & gores. "Sixth Sense" as opposed to "Friday the 13th"
BTW, what IS Suspiria?

Hi Michelle!
Ah, Suspiria. Well, it is widely regarded as the best work from Italian horror meastro Dario Argento. It follows an American dance student who enrolls in a creepy school, which turns out to be run by aa witches coven. It's well acted, beautifully filmed with amazing use of colour and has one of the ebst horror soundtracks ever recorded. If you have never seen euro-horror this is great starting point and may make you want to watch more of his work. You may know Dario Argento's daughter Asia who recently starred in xXx with Vin Diesel.
As you can see, I really love it!

Hey all!
My fascination with horror started when I was young after I picked up a beaten library copy of a ghost story collection. I decided that I enjoyed being terrified. I have sooo many scary movies that I love, it is difficult to pinpoint a "favorite." For me, the recent "Requiem for a Dream" is startling, distubing, intense, and horrifying. I've always had a soft spot for Robert Englund's potrayal of Freddy in the Nightmare series (Yes, i realize the character became campy as the series went on, although "New Nightmare" was redeeming). I am an avid fan of Hooper's "Poltergeist," as well.
Aren't you glad "Suspiria" made it on Bravo's Top 100 Scary Moments of TV List?
Good to have you on board, Andy. Look forward to working with you in the future!

I'm Sharon. As a kid I grew up watching the Universal horror movies on our local late night "shock theater". We were left alone on the weekends at my Grandfather's house so we'd cook up hotdogs and popcorn, and make our own theater tickets. We'd set up chairs in front of the old b/w Zenith and pretend we were at the movies. It was great!

1st on was Twilight Zone, then Night Gallery (my personal favorite) then the horror movie of the week.
That's probably where I started. I'll watch Twilight Zone if I catch it on SciFi Channel (and endure my kids asking why I'm watching a show with no color). I loved Night Gallery. I've seen a great deal of 70/80s cheesy slasher movies, a lot of the really bad ones. For the longest time my favorite movie was The Shining (the old one). I also like Candyman and Evil Dead. I'm sure there's lots more that I can't think of right now.

Hi! I'm Megan!
I'm a big fan of psychological thrillers (although I have a nasty habit of predicting the ending and spoiling it for myself.... M. Night Shyamalan hasn't fooled me yet!)
I also adore campy B movies from the 80's, I really can't get enough of them. The man of the house doesn't care for them much, but my girlfriends do, so sometimes we'll still have slumber parties (who says you can't have them after you're 16?) at our single friend's house and scare ourselves silly. I don't know what we'll do when she gets married or otherwise attached.
Now I'm scared.

Ooo, can't wait for M. Night's next one to come out - saw the previews at the "Harry Potter" movie. Something about mer-people I think...can't remember the name, but it looked interesting.
His may not be "horror" in the classic sense, but they definitely are "thinking" movies!

I think it was maybe called The Lady in the Water, or something like that? I saw the preview at the HP movie, too. I think his movies are great! I know some people say they're not "horror", but, jeez.... The Sixth Sense was about ghosts, Signs was about aliens, and The Village had a monster element. The only one that definitely wasn't horror was Unbreakable, but I liked that too!

Hello everyone
I really enjoy horror movies myself esspecially the ones that are horror/psychological thriller. The first horror movie I ever saw was friday the 13th when I was only 9 years old - I have been hooked ever since.
The only ones I dont like are the ones based on true stories (totally gross!!) I think nightmare on elm street series would have to go down as classics.

Hi all new people!
I've been indulging myself with obscure horror recently, but keep a look out for some articles on some classics soon!

Hello, Andy! I'm Phil, and I'm the new editor for SF/F Movies!
I love horror movies. Hell, I'm just a movie buff, period. lol But, where it comes to horror (and sci-fi, and fantasy) I have a passion. lol
I have too many favorite horror films to name. To do so would take up entirely too many posts. lol
Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself and say HI!
BTW, Andy, are you British? I ask because not a lot of Americans use the term "Off you go". lol

Actually, I did think of a couple I dearly love: Final Destination 1 & 2. Haven't had a chance to see the 3rd.

Hi Everyone,
I'm really not a horror movies buff, I haven't seen very many but I like to stay up to date with all film genres as much as I can.
I tend to like psychological thrillers more, as some others have also mentioned here. I love Hitchcock and Vincent Price but I more associate them with classics as opposed to horror.
For some reason I always have to watch religious horror/suspense movies: The Omen, The Exorcist, Rosemary's Baby, Stigmata, etc.--I'm addicted to those, probably comes from being a preacher's daughter.

You can't beat The Rocky Horror Show. That's quite scary. Ok so it's not exactly the Texas Chainsaw Massacre but it still gives me the collywobbles (no I don't dress up for it).

I'm the new Anime editor around here, but I have to say, I'm also a little obsessed with horror. The first horror I ever saw was the first Nightmare on Elm Street, but I must confess - I really just wanted to perve on Johnny Depp. From then on (I think I was about 11? 12?) I was just hooked. I love all kinds of horror - from the truely horrific to the insanely hilarous - and not just horror movies, but books too.
My boyfriend and I actually actively seek out unintentionally hilarious horror movies. Its one of our favourite past times - to snicker at what was obviously intended to be a serious scare-fest that just didn't work. Our favourite this year was a movie that was actually banned in a state of Australia. We can't decide if it was banned because it was the kind of movie where if you take it seriously, it decreases your IQ by the second, or if the censors just didn't get the joke.
Anyhow, I'm sure I'll be haunting these forums a fair amount.

Hi everyone! I'm the new editor for Horrormovies here at Bellaonline and I would really love to get to know everyone. Hopefully you'll all enjoy reading my work and also giving me some knowledge of what sort of horror you would like to see me take a look at. I'm a huge horror movie fan, but I have to say my favorite is 'A Nightmare On Elm Street' - the original. You'll probably guess from my writing that I hate remakes (most of the time LOL). Take it easy, Steven Casey Murray

I think we all love the thrill it gives us and that these movies take us into another world but our own... I have loved them since i was a young child myself.I would have to say The Thing, Pet Semitary, Holloween were my favorites. We dont see them as much with a good thrill but hey maybe we all got spoiled with the good ones at a young age as well with everything else we got as a child ha,ha,ha. Take Care all and i think this is a great spot and a good choice of a subject to start. Thanks. (K)
Take Care....Keep me posted ok..

Hi, I'm Lori and I'm from Oklahoma, I've been into horror movies since I was a small child. My mom and I had many fights when I was younger because she didn't think I was old enough to be watching (scary movies), but needless to say, that didn't stop me. Some of my first one's I really got into was the Halloween and Friday the 13th movies. My husband is into mainly acton or comedy, so we always fight when it comes time to rent movies, and even if we both get one, then we have to decide which one to watch first.

It's so great to hear from so many people that love horror as much as me. I was always getting told off for watching too much horror when I was a kid, but I think that just makes you want to watch it even more. I think it must be born in you LOL. I went to see 'Dead Silence' the other day, it was okay but not that amazing. I'm really looking forward to seeing 'All the boys love Mandy Lane' - it reminds me of a short story I once wrote. Peace to everyone!

Hey Steven! Welcome to BellaOnline (sorry I'm a little late, LOL!) I've personally been pretty disappointed with the "horror" that's been being put out the past few years. I've always been drawn more to the psychological thrillers than the blood and gorefests, and unfortunately hollywood seems to be drawn to the shock factor here lately.

Hi - I am Robin, the Crime Editor and a big fan of horror movies.
So far my favorites are:
The Others - I knew the caretakers were dead from minute one - but the ending - WOW - blew me away. The whole thing throughout was great
Ghost Story - I had read the book and the movie was just as good - I like a real ghost story, not a scientific explanantion at the end
Salem's Lot - book and movie were great!
Halloween - the original, #2 was okay....#3 - don't even mention it......the rest - eh...
Halloween H20 - that was a nice one....all of the tie ins with other things, like Janet Leigh in the cast, and the car she drove, the mention of the Bates motel.......just cool!

Hi!
I've always been an avid reader. As a kid, my favorite authors were Stephen King, John Saul and Shirley Jackson. My mother would hide the books from me because I would stay up reading all night.
When I was almost expelled from my Catholic grammar school for having a copy of "The Exorcist" in my locker, mom wanted to send me for psychological testing--LOL!!
I love to be frightened in an "enlightened" way, if that makes any sense.
My all-time favorite horror/thriller movie is Angelheart.
