Hey y'all! I don't know if this the right forum to post this, but here it goes. I just saw the trailer for Rent the other day and I absolutely loved the songs (the little that I heard)
and now I want the soundtrack. But I was told to get the original cast soundtrack, so I was thinking about this one: http://www.iclassics.com/productDetail?contentId=49100 ...what do you recommend?

I heard a recording at a friend's place a year or so back of the original cast recording of Rent, and it struck me as being magnificently sarcastic, and very incisive humour. I haven't heard any other recordings, but I certainly enjoyed the one I heard, and I'm not even a huge fan of musicals! But this was funny, witty and very well performed.
Let's hope one of our Forum readers knows your version AND the original soundtrack!
Sue

Just as I've finally gotten the song "Five hundred twenty-five thousand six-hundred minutes" out of my head, they make a movie out of the musical and that commercial was on tv for months. It's back.

I saw Rent on Broadway many moons ago, and bought the original cast recording then. But from what I understand, they've remade the movie with the original Broadway cast members playing the same roles. So I bet the new soundtrack is excellent, also.

If you're not familiar with Rent, it's a reworking of Puccini's "La Boheme", one of the finest operas ever written. Both Rent and La Boheme are worth seeing live, if you get a chance.
