Okay, I am not against parents and I like a lot of them. But this one mother I was talking to who was a friend of a friends was so appauled that I didnt want children, she actually looked like she was going to faint when I told her.

it all started when she asked my friend when she is going to have more kids (my friend has 2, this other women has 5!) My freind responded by saying "Me and Derrick (her husband) decided we wanted 2 awhile ago, so were all done" And this lady had the nerve to say "You cant stop at 2, God said be fruitfull and Multiply, having 2 is only doubling" I was Like ...WOA this lady is cracked. Then she turned and asked me "How many children do you have" and I said "Oh, I decided not to have any"

the look on her face!. She went into a rant about....Why cant you have them...and I told her 'I think so" and man she gave me a earfull. I can say I honestly never had that happen. Meaning that intense of a reaction.

But can you believe she told my friend who had 2 kids "You have to be fruitfull and multiply and having 2 is only doubling" Thats the stupidest comment I think I have ever heard from anyone. Mother or not. And she said so much to me that I blocked her out.

She was a older women, probably has old fashion views. but she was extreme. This was a expereince I will never forget.

How awful!! That kind of person makes me want to disappear and become invisible so I can choke her and then go put a spell on her precious children so they want to become emancipated at age 5.

Yes, blocking people out is the way I usually go when I cannot make myself invisible. Notice how God was the one we should all be following...

But who knows maybe by you being honest and straigtforward you sent her home scared, wondering how you can be such a child of the devil.

As I said once in my livejournal (was even quoted on another site, that's why I remember I said it <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> ):

"He [God] said 'be fruitful and multiply' back when there were only two people on earth, and the second time was when there were only eight. Circumstances have changed just a tad since then."

I always said that Katja, be fruitful and multiply was when we needed to multiply. Now we really dont because there are so many people on earth!

My husband asked me today...doesnt 1 times 2 = 2, I said "yes" and he says, well then there you go. Thats Multiplying! hahaha. Guess he is right, having 2 would be considered multiplying. But I dont have ANY and I am not multiplying, and I dont think God is mad at me for that.

I would have told her I don't like kids nor do I believe in God. She probably would have fainted! :-0
Hahaha!

I believe the REST of that scripture has something to do with 'and fill the Earth' which means she should be living in Anartica or someplace where the Earth needs to be filled. otherwise just 'multiplying' is not doing what her god said to do either...
personally, I don't have any extra room to fill. so why should I break another of those rules and not 'finish what I start'? LOL

That is one thing that bothered me at first about probably (99.9%) choosing to be CF. Because I am a Christian, I believed I was doing something wrong....my hubby said the same thing..."multiplying" was encouraged when there were a handful of people here...now there are PLENTY! I do like children, but the thought of having one living with us 24/7 is just VERY unappealing! My poodles would be sooooooooo jealous...=)

I think my husband's going to be mad that he didn't coin the phrase "Earth's filled." ("multiply and fill the earth") Honestly, though, I'm Christian and I do know what you guys mean about the "look" that CF couples get, especially with "churchy types." However, I've found that also depends on what circles you travel in--some places give me a hard time, others don't. The thing is, for those that are concerned about the moral implications of CF life, the Bible (as far as I know) never says that every couple has to have children. So, they don't really have much of a foundation to stand on there, even within the belief system.

Man, Delongcrey, that's probably the worst one I've heard yet! Do you find though, it's the people that don't know you that give you the most flack?
