can some one help im trying to find out where the black pegnancy spot appears on the fish.. im trying to breed guppys,mollys and platys. all the books and info ive read all mention the black spot but they dont tell you where it appears. please some one help. also how long are they pegnant for.. thanks

The black spot you are referring to is called a "gravid spot", and is located just above the anal fin (around the area poop comes out) in livebearer fish. Here is a photo of a pregnant guppy with an obvious gravid spot; they are not always this obvious in darker colored fish such as mollies.

well i now have loads of baby platys, which ive put in another tank so they have more of a chance. i now no what im looking for. thanks again.. sarah

well shes done it again only 3 weeks after her last lot of fry but this time theres 33 of them. their all in my other tank doing well, their great to watch to..
