The saddest thing happened I woke up this morning to find my fish dead and white the colors faded out. My sister forgot to put the dechlorinator in the water when she cleaned it last night but the weird thing is that also, after me and her went to bed the small tank made weird noises, maybe the fish was really going crazy in there. But what I wanted to know is that why did it turn freaky white. Was it the chlorine in the water bleach the colors? Please write back with posts.

I am unable to answer your question, but I just wanted to let you know that I am sorry that your fish died. I have a large and a small fish tank with a variety of tropical fish. It is very sad when any of them are lost. Some people don't understand how you can get attached to fish, but you sure can! My fish are all different and so are their ways about them. I hope that someone is able to answer your question for you. Sincerely, moose

Yes marcela, it was probably a combination of not adding dechlorinator and doing too large a water change (please see warning given before on this topic in previous post). Chlorine is toxic to fish and bettas usually can't handle the stress. I'm sorry to hear about your fish also; if you ever get another, remember do NOT shock it with sudden water changes, never change more than 50% of the water at once, and always change water that has been dechlorinated, or use bottled water of roughly the same temperature. All these little things matter to the fish that you may not notice yourself.

Thanks for the support girls , I feel much better, and yes Moose, a small part of me died too and my eyes got teary when i found out it was dead, but thanks guys for the support and concerns. Oh and Pandora, trust me it wasnt the huge amount of water change, I told me sister, only change 30% of it, shes like "it'll be okay," but she just changed the water 60% but i know it didnt die of that becuase the first time we ever changed the water it was 100% but the fish turned out ok. but next time if i ever do get another fish we will try to care for it much more. Thanks for the support and God BLess!

Sorry to hear about it marcella I know it sounds like you really did try your best, so don't be too discouraged from starting again later (it's possible the betta may have been stressed or sick when you first got it too, and just the added stress of the move itself compounded this)... hopefully it will work out if you get another, good luck!
