I've never seen a snake plant in bloom! I keep meaning to get some for a dim room in the house, but they're don't seem as common as they were in the 70s when every house seemed to have at least one.

I can't say about the prayer plant, but don't give up on it. Plants have set-backs, just like us, and then one day, they simply decide to have another go at reproduction, which is what the flowers are all about.

Ficus are funny like that. Moody trees, them.

I was a florist for nearly 10 years so I can 'answer' just about anything.
My grandmothers snake plant sat on my hope chest for years after she passed away then last year it bloomed and proceeded to contract root rot -sigh. Ask your friend the florist to order one for you, theyre usually willinng to do that if youre definitely going to purchase it. Early fall late summer is usually when the wholesalers around herre have their plant specials...but thats here inn N. New England.
Good luck
Wendy

The sad thing about the snake plant bloom is the flowers only last a day or so...they are small on a spike. My mother was surprised when she was here and saw it. She didn't even know they bloomed. Mine is in front of a west window and is about 5 foot tall. I haven't had to stake it yet. I water it about once a month. I think it is gorgeous, but most people say it is ugly and my grandmother thinks the name "mother-in-law-tounge" is horrible!

I am hanging in there with the prayer plant. Never say never to me LOL! Connie
