Great article! Thank you for your help in spreading the word. No domestic skunk is safe in the US until we get a recognized vaccine and quarrantine period. As skunk owners, we must work together to find a way to fund ASRR.

I think you have hit on the important issues; vaccination and quarantine time. There is a researcher who has informed me in no uncertain terms that there is a skunk Rabies vaccine now "that will protect the skunk from Rabies, but will not protect it from the Law!" This final testing needs desperately to be pursued and completed for the sake of all skunks, domestic and wild, so that the laws can then be written/amended to defend instead of destroy this precious national animal.
It is my goal in the very near future to make every effort toward helping to acquire the amounts of money that are needed for final testing. The multitudes of people that your Web Site reaches on a daily basis can just be the catalyst to stimulate someone's interest or touch someone's heart in some positive way.

This is a great article on the need for a rabies vaccine to help protect our furkids,Thanks so much Diana for helping to spread the word about this need,too many of our skunks are dying,needlessly,just to prove what we already know-that they dont have this dreaded disease.The government can spend billions playing war,cant they spend enough to help create a vaccine for our furkids ?

Have you seen the billions that Bush allowed for homeland security (this months Readers Digest) Also US news. States have written grants and have received enormous amounts of money on items that have nothing to do with homeland security. Unless trailers to hual lawnmowers to golf courses helps our security - maybe the while little ball but nothing else. This was just one of the many misuses of these funds. I'm thinking of a garden bathtub myself. It frightens me what our lawmakers are capable of and incapable of. What additions to bills to satisfy votes for the major bill. How little time they have to go through the mounds of paper before voting on these bills. Scary stuff. I am heading for a nap have been up for a couple of days.

yes, very little has come in and I know if EVERONE got together we could make it happen.

what a shame they arent willing to help us raise money for rabies research,they wouldnt think twice about raising taxes so that the military or these senators could have another golf course,but to help the common people who loves skunks as pets? It aint happening ! They will allow a rabies drug for the wild skunks,but not for the domestics,maybe if the skunks voted,they would listen !

I had always wondered how some "rights" groups can become violent but considering how lawmakers think only in their own little boxes I could see how frustrated some get. A case in point is the ferret situation in the state of CA. I got a letter from a lawmaker he proved himself such an idiot on facts I was tempted to post it on a website.

it is crazy all the money they will spend on war and themselves but cant be bothered with our kids. i appriciate how Diane is trying to get the word out about our kids and what is happening to them. danna
