I was just reading that the Irish are using their cell phones to message at three times the rate of their neighboring islands.

I had to hoot, knowing my own ring of relations and how any news travels at light-speed.

An example. When my husband spoke to my dad about, you know, the marriage...we left and went three miles (by car!) to call his folks in Dublin to announce the happy news. John was astonished when his father answered the phone, "Good for you, son! Congratulations!"

You see, John's dad had been visiting his daughter in a Dublin hospital when the Donegalman in the next room had received a call with the news that my dad had phoned home.

The "Irish Telegraph," there's nothing in the world like it!

Anyone out there have a similar story? I'd love to hear it. <img src="/images/graemlins/irish.gif" alt="" />
