I've tried a cranberry flavored water (Fit & Active, from ALDI'S) that tasted just like cranberry juice--minus all those calories and carbs. I haven't tried mixing it yet, but I think it would be a great subsitute for cranberry juice and vodka.

I've tried mixing vodka with a diet orange soda and a diet fruit punch before. Both were pretty good. Before I was low carb, I mixed light or diet "juices" (V8 Splash and Minute Maid brands) with vodka. These were good too, but do have a few carbs (about 3) per serving.

I'm personally a beer fan, so haven't come up with any creative mixes yet! Now that I'm carb conscious, however, I think I'm gonna start, so thanks for all the great ideas!

Yup I use a lot of diet sodas with fruit flavors, they usually work quite nicely. Also I use diet flavored waters.

Good luck on the 50 pounds - my boyfriend lost more than 50 pounds in only a few months. It's not hard at all - but it does require cleaning the house out of junk. Really, the trick is to eat healthy. If all you have around you is healthy food, you just do it

My personal favorites:

Classic Martini

2 1/2 oz. gin or vodka
1 1/2 tsp. dry vermouth (more or less to taste)
1 twist of lemon zest OR olives to taste (add a splash of olive juice to make it "dirty")

Grapefruit G&T

Pour 2 oz. gin over ice in a small tumbler. Add just a splash of freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. Fill to the top with diet tonic. Lovely on a hot summer day.

I also like to make my own flavored vodka. I fill a mason jar or old peanut butter jar with fruit (canteloupe is the best, but slightly higher-carb, strawberries and lemons are really nice and versatile) and pour vodka (or gin!) over it until it is full. I then put it in the freezer and let it sit at least 24 hours. Mix with plain seltzer and garnish with a strawberry and you'll have a delicious cocktail.

For the braver folks among us, try the same thing with jalapeno peppers. If you don't cut them open, the alcohol just takes on the faintest bit of their heat. I like Jalapeno gin and tonics. VERY nice for a hot summer day.

That sounds delicious!!

I have become fond of decaf iced tea and brandy. Just remember to try to avoid the caffeine
