I'm beginning to think that Intervention Theory is the correct way of investigating this question and coming to understand our origins. Here's a slide show by Lloyd Pye outlining the theory and presenting evidence for it -- Intervention

Intelligent design is not science. It is a religious belief that has appropriated the vocabulary of science. While it is prefectly fine to believe in intelligent design, creationism, or any other idea about how life came to be on this planet, it can not be touted as science because it cannot be tested by experiment, does not generate any predictions, and proposes no new hypotheses of its own. These three things are requirements of science.
Believing in evolution does not dimish the wonder of life on earth, or the miracle of a birth. Order that ensues from chaos is inherently beautiful and worth celebrating.

I believe inIntelligent design. i am a science student and take great interest in it. But nothing gives me the answer about evolution. I face the same problem with theory of Time dilation.

AND - You're a SCIENTIST - ??

let us talk like this. We can take base of science and discuss this. What surprises me is this-
Why we do not see any further evolution in monkeys now?

Mark717, although I do think your comic is somewhat entertaining, it shows a complete lack of understanding of evolution; individuals do not evolve.
Also, believing in evolution does not correlate absolutely with not-believing in God, gods, or other higher powers.

How did the first gene form? Who linked the atoms and made the perfect molecules and joined them?

"Who linked the atoms and made the perfect molecules and joined them?"
Why does it have to be "who" ... maybe no "one" did it. Maybe it's just a lot of biology and chemistry. Why do we have to know?

Richard Dawkins addresses the question of how the first genes formed and how they progressed into more sophisticated structures in his book The Selfish Gene. Read my review here. I highly recommend it. Also, here is an interesting op-ed piece from a Republican Senator from Kansas who does not "believe" in evolution. I do not share his opinion, but I respect that he acknowledges the role of science and doesn't outright reject it.
