BellaOnline Forums Home and Garden Fish Too Much Salt?

I scared myself the other day. Just changed Gilligan's water on Tuesday night, and Wednesday morning, he looked awful! Didn't lose his color or clamp his fins, no signs of finrot or illness - just couldn't swim and kept rolling over on his side. I quickly scooped him out and put him into clean water. He was totally recovered by the time I got home from work on Wednesday and is now very happy and active again. The only thing I can think of that might have been wrong was too much salt. I couldn't remember if I added it when I changed the water, so I added some "just in case". I won't do that again!

Maybe Jm...excess salt does make one more bouyant...but I wouldn't think just twice the amount as usual could cause that much of a difference...depends on how much is the usual amount I suppose...lol

Well, I don't remember adding so much as to turn it into the Great Salt Lake! LOL! I was just thinking that it was affecting him and making him ill. I'm just happy he's doing better.
