I have a pattern for a baby afghan that is saying to dc2tog. It refers to this stitch 2 ways: "work dc2tog in to 4th & 5th ch" and also "1 dc into next ch, dc2tog." Can anyone explain in plain English or provide a web site that would illustrate this. I haven't had any luck yet searching the net for this. Oh yeah, it comes from a book dated 1988. Is there a newer explanation for this stitch?

How To Make 2 sc tog - insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over your hook and pull up a loop, leaving that loop on your hook, insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over your hook and pull up another loop. Yarn over your hook and pull through the 3 loops on your hook.

How To Make 2 dc tog - yarn over hook and insert into stitch, yarn over hook and pull up a loop, yarn over hook and pull through 2 loops on hook. Yarn over hook and insert in stitch, yarn over hook and pull up a loop, yarn over hook and pull through 2 loops on hook, yarn over hook and pull through all loops on hook.
