Hello Gilse,
Im not sure if you mean you are new to this forum or new to FMS because I personally have serious reservations about the clinic and the long term antibiotic regimen.
First as Deanna stated that antibiotics can kill off good bacteria that we need in our bodies and second that taking an antibiotic for unjust reasons can cause your body to develop a resistance which can be harmful down the road when and if an antibiotic is truly needed.
IF this is a good FMS clinic they know that blood workups can detect an infection to show the need for an antibiotic. If any or all blood workups that a doctor rx's does not prove another syndrome/disease that mimics FMS then I would question the need, especially if your CBC comes out fine.
Once all of the others are ruled out this is why the trigger point test is done to "assume" its FMS - remember there is no proof at this time.
I have been on a long regimen of antibiotics ( 3 mos. ) for a "reason" and during that time I can easily tell you that it made absolutely no difference in my FMS, how I felt, my flares - nothing.
If you have a primary I would certainly ask about this clinic and what he thinks about taking the antibiotics for a lengthy time but IF me I would say "no."
Im NOT a doctor and though we are all individuals with this nasty please be careful and check, double check before you proceed with anything - error on the side of caution.
GOOD LUCK
Judie
