I was at a museum with my 10 month old qnd he was crying and fussy because he was hungry. He is at the point now where distractions.(noise, people, etc) makes it difficult for him to stay focused and breastfeed. This makes breastfeeding in public a challenge for me. Anyway, I could not find a quiet spot to breastfeed so I had to go into the bathroom stall. It was quiet and he ate very well. Have you ever found yourself in this situation?

ALL THE TIME!
I'm currently nursing my almost 22 month old daughter and my 2 month old son (kids #3 and 4). The toddler has been known to walk up to me and just pull my shirt up.

I think the stage when they start standing and taking steps was one of the hardest stages. Make a nursing necklace for the baby to play with while they eat, it'll work for a while.

I used to have this problem too. So whenever i went out, whatever the weather I'd make sure I took a baby shawl with me to drape over my shoulder, that way, whenever the baby got fidgety/distracted, it didn't matter if he let go for a look around. He could still find the nipple to resume his feed. However, by using the shawl, I found two things.
1 - It works best with younger babies. The shawl cuts out the bright lights/people walking past, etc.
2 - Older babies can grab it and pull it off.
It's a case of finding a happy medium.
See if you can arrange to go out/visit people when you're baby shouldn't need a feed.

Awww, yes <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

When mine got to the point of not being able to nurse for all the distractions I'd try to get out to some fresh air and let them chill then come back to wherever we were and try again.
