On our way home from church today I saw a bald eagle flying high up over the Ohio River! We were crossing the Little Kanawa River as it empties into the Ohio River and I was laying back in my seat just about to fall asleep when I looked out the side window up onto the hill. At first I couldn't tell what it was, but I knew it was bigger than a buzzard and the feathers weren't splayed out like a buzzard's. Then when it circled around and the sun hit it just right I saw the tell-tale sign, the white head. I told my husband and he said "Wow! What a good omen on to see on your birthday!" (It's his birthday today, BTW.) I guess their going to nest again on Blennerhassett Island. I hope so and I hope they're successful.
Rose, I know you see these majestic birds all the time in Alaska. My nephew said they're as common as buzzards up there. But here they're something pretty unique and special to see. I feel blessed!
