I'm going to attempt to share some of the highlights of my drizzly, rainy day trip to Lake Nockamixon today. Although I was shooting with my digital camera (without a telephoto lens to speak of), I was able to get closer to a dozen or so turkey vultures than ever before, and in some unusual locations. Better yet, I was able to photograph a few of them before they decided I had gotten a little too close for their comfort.

Great photos!! The funniest thing is that, right below the vultures in the first picture, there is a sign that says "boat owners only." Guess they can't read, eh?

Your comment about the sign was one of the first things that caught my attention, lol:

 • Boat owners only

 • No fishing from or between docks

It made me wonder whether the turkey vultures could in fact have read the sign as they were perched on the gate beyond which only the boat owners could pass. It appeared to me as if the two pairs of vultures may have been involved in a heated debate as to whether or not they should ignore the sign, and proceed further out onto the dock. At least they didn't appear to be fishing at the time, although that doesn't mean they wouldn't have taken advantage of the chance to do so if the opportunity had arisen.

Wow we have enough trouble washing seagull poop off the boat, I'm sure glad we don't have to contend with those, they are huge!

You are very clever to put pictures into the post I am going to have to investigate this

You're right, Ruth. Those turkey vultures are huge!! I wouldn't want them messing on my boat (if I had a boat, lol). As far as posting pictures within the text of your message, it's not all that difficult if you've got pics stored at an online site. Marian had given me some helpful suggestions about posting pics, and I also used the Instant UBB Code "IMAGE"
bar found below the Add Reply/Preview Post bars below this box.

It's actually quite fun exploring the picture posting possibilities, but I don't know what I'm doing well enough to explain it to someone else in an understandable way.
