I just wanted to say hi. I logged onto this site today because I have been very down lately. I am 26 years old and was married last august. A month after I was married I had to have my left ovary removed. I then went on to discover that both of my tubes are closed at both ends. A fertility specialist told me that doing surjury on my tubes would only give me about a 5% chance of conceiving naturally and that my best bet is IVF which costs around $15,000 and Insurance does not cover it. My husband and do all right but we are not extremely wealthy people and either are our parents. So with that being my history I guess I am just logging on here to find some people that understand what heartache I have been going through. I think I am finally accepting the fact that I need help and I can't do this alone anymore. Thank You

[color:"blue"] You came to the right place, Katy. [/color]

If motherhood doesn't interest you, don't do it. It didn't interest me, so I didn't do it. Anyway, I would have made a terrible parent. The first time my child didn't do what I wanted, I'd kill him."

(((hugs)))
this is definitely the right place. i'm so sorry for the shock you've received. finding out you're infertile is the loneliest feeling in the world.

ivf is so expensive. perhaps you could work out with your RE (reproductive endocrinologist) exactly what the costs are and find out what meds you'll need. if you travel anyway, sometimes you can get the meds in another country (very cheap in france) and bring them here. also believe it or not, people do sell them on craigslist. usually they're leftover from their own cycles. sometimes drs will even allow patients to donate leftover meds to their clinic, and if there's something you need, you can get it. meds are a huge cost. usually about 3400.00 of the total cost. the rest of the cost includes sonogram monitoring, bloodwork, retrieval, transfer, embryologist, anesthesia. find out the breakdown for all of it. it helps to know these things. my dr was going to let us have the sonograms and bloodwork for free for our ivf, but the RE i saw this month doesn't think we are candidates for ivf (uterus issues).

keep posting here and asking questions. there is a lot involved, and it helps to have someone guide you through.
