I recently watched Unbreakable and what a great movie, so many unexpected things going on and the ending was a total surprise (to me it was anyway). Do you think Signs would be a little much for my 7 year old ? I try not to bring anything over the top for him.

Hi Eva!
It depends on what you allow your child to watch normally. Personally, I don't allow my 5 year old to watch anything that is not for kids or G/PG rated. (Unless, of course, it's a nature show like Crocodile Hunter.)
I think Signs is far too scary for anyone under 13 in my opinion. I suppose it's a matter of personal conviction. It never ceases to amaze me when parents bring their young children to PG-13 or R movies... (Something that I would never do.)

Thanks, sounds like my house I did make one mistake, I let him watch Ace Ventura Pet Detective and he still goes around bending over pretending to talk with his backside out of all the things in that movie, he picks up and remembers that one !!!!!

My most favorite movies of all times have to do with the mystical. They are - "The Green Mile" -- an unjustly sentenced prisoner possesses the powers to heal people around him. - "The 6th Sense" -- everybody knows the plot of this one. "I see dead people."

I love all of Shyamalan's movies. I'd love to get a 3 pack of The 6th Sense, Signs and Unbreakable! Did you see those other two, Ice?
I saw Green Mile in the theater. Kinda brutal. The maniacal guard who got off on executions (and the executions themselves) made me queasy. I can handle violence in movies, but cruelty is hard on my system...
Anyone see any good "mystical" movies lately? I haven't, that I can remember. Any recommendations, especially new releases? I saw Pirates of the Caribbean, but I think it, and Depp's performance, was highly overrated.

Hi, I thought it was just Me (and hubby), but we couldn't get into 'Pirates of the Caribbean' either.
Johnny Depp was a rather effeminate pirate, it seems to me. I guess maybe we were missing something about his character.
I do find that is often true, though, that the movies that are very often raved about, we just give a ho hum too. In fact, we turn alot of them off after about a half hour!

Yucca, I tend to have that experience, too, with movies. (Critics rave, and I shut it off after the first few minutes/half hour.) Pulp Fiction was one of them.
What took away from Depp's performance, IMO, is the fact that 1. They explained it away with drink 2. Orlando Bloom's character did a dead-on impression of Captain Jack. If Bloom could do it that easily...
Depp is a fine actor, and the special effects were great in the movie, but it had a lackluster storyline and could have been a Sunday night Disney movie as far as I'm concerned.
I re-watched LOTR: Two Towers last night, and that is one of the best mystical movies of all time. The LOTR books were my absolute favorite in High School.

No, regrettably, never saw the other two. Wow, "Green Mile" totally didn't register with me as brutal, because that bad guy was avenged afterwards anyway (I think). I saw Pirates, but for some reason I don't think of it as mystical, I think a movie loses mysticism when it's so predictable..

IQ Pirates of the Caribbean isn't a movie I'd consider mystical, either, I suppose--but it did have that "otherworldy" theme to it.
I think it's the whole electric chair brutality that bugged me more than anything in The Green Mile.
