Stephanie, I am glad that you discovered the art of bellydancing. It is great exercise and a lot of fun! Akasha, yes, I think it is a good idea to take some classes. Many years ago I took classes. There are specific moves in bellydancing and you can also be taught how to play the zills (finger cymbals). One of my friends who is Greek took the class with me along with another friend of mine.We bought the outfits, as well. My friends and I performed in a Greek restaurant. I then taught one of my other friends. Two of my friends and I did some performances for different celebrations. I should try it again; I could use the exercise. Have fun! Let me know how it goes for you! Hoopa! Sincerely, moose

Thanks for posting. I think taking classes is VERY important. While, "yes", the dance is about expression, there are very important fundamentals needed to do it correctly. I can't express enough how taking classes opens up the creative mind & its always fun to learn from different teachers. You can then incorporate what you learn from them into your own dance style! Sephanie, To answer your question about costumes. Some of my friends and I bought our costumes at the local mall. Years ago you could buy the costumes, but not anymore. Some of the others either made their costumes or had someone else make them for them. If I do bellydancing, it will be for the exercise only. My friends who I used to do it with moved out of state. Good luck with your routines with the sword. That sounds so Cool! Please let me know how it goes! Enjoy! Sincerely, moose

Hehehehe (about the missing "T") no problem.....I often do that myself when typing my own name :rolling:
I think I'm gonna take a stab at designing & making my own costume. I have a sewing machine.....but no clue on how to use it! lol

Stephanie O, Do you know if they teach bellydancing in Utah? Do you know a good place to get a coin belt for bellydancing? Do you know the difference between a coin belt and a weighed coin belt? Which is better? My first belly dancing dvd was Belly Queen and I liked that but I wanted a change. I just bought the goddess workout. I really like it. I want to find a good deal on bellydancing outfit. Do you know a good place. I love bellydancing I feel like a exotic princess!!! It had really helped my self-esteem!! Im glad I found this site!!!

Hey everyone!! Sorry I've been MIA...my mother suffered a stroke in the past several months so I've been distracted. Thank you all for the support! I hope to build up the forum/discussions here so please post your comments & questions!
Is anyone studying/taking classes right now & if so, how are they going for you?
