I don't know about you, but I happen to be a major fan of video games. One of my favorites is actually a series, called final fantasy.

Many people don't realize this, but lot's of the characters found in the games, can also be found in history! The creators of the games took names of mythological creatures and characters to fill out there game.

A great example of this is Gilgamesh. He commonly appears as a helpful force (the term for this changes with each game) But the story of Gilgamesh originated in an Akkadian text. His story is a great epic of imortality, for Gilgamesh was two thirds god and one third man.

Please feel free to add your thoughts on this subject.

One of the other figures that appears in the game is Shiva. I have an article on this mythological figure at: Shiva of the Trimurti

Yes, Shiva is a favorite in Final Fantasy and that one is pretty clearly from mythology!!

Isn't Bahamut a known demon in mythology too?

Bahumat is, I can't remember which myth right now, but I'll find out! But did you know that Taimat is from mythology as well? I'll be doing an article on her as well. Basically all the mainstay gf's are from mythological sources, and many of the landmarks are as well (like centra)

In final fantasy 10, Ixion is a great Unicorn of thunder that helps your characters. The original Ixion was actually a figure of punishment in greek mythology. Read about it here

You both seem to know a lot more about this than me but doesn't Yunalesca, the third time you battle her, look a lot like Medusa. Shiva isn't he the blue six-armed war god worshipped by the Hindu's. Chimaera also is a mythological creature right? And Jessica I'm also a major fan of video games <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> .
