I know what you mean. And I've lived an extreme example. My son is gifted, and in his early years was very highly emotional. Frustration, anger, crying fits, you name it. And even if they didn't actually say it, everyone was thinking "Send him to school, that'll fix him."

"Yeah", I would think, "but whose going to help him to navigate school? He can hardly deal with is own immense feelings. How's he going to deal with 30+ other people's raw feelings all at one time? No thanks, I'll homeschool him."

I wasn't popular, but 12 years later, I think that I was right.

My son was emotional in the same way while he was in public school. It was only have I brought him home, away from the overstimulation of school that he calmed down. He still has ADD, but no one ever suggests meds for him now, and they always did when he was in school.

Send her to school-that's what it's for??? Funny, I thought schools were for teaching academics, not for giving parents a break. A child undergoing stressful times needs the consistancy and security of a loving home. I agree entirely, Meg. No teacher coping with 30 wild children can give your child what she needs most-your love.

Thanks for your comments gals <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I appreciate it!
I really think a lot of Cate's recent problems have just been emotional. She's been spoiled by her grandparents this past week, she's not thrilled about mom being pregnant - and honestly, I think a lot of it is my tension because I don't feel well. It seems I get awful cabin fever when I'm pregnant.

Anyhow - we have two days out scheduled for next week. Tuesday is their doc appts, then I think I'm going to take them to Sea World for the day. Thursday I oragnized a city-wide homeschool park day, so that should be fun for her.
