Is Abortion Wrong?

"The right-wing conservative Christian American has up until recent years had a ready answer: 'Of course it's wrong, it's illegal!' Nowadays, that cannot be the answer because the American government and the world in general have written pro-abortion laws, so the anti-abortionist is fighting the system. So the pro-lifers now scream 'Murder!' in order to guilt the sexually active teenager (or her mom) and the doctor. The post-abortion patient reels under this indictment, not understanding the vehemence of these self-proclaimed medical experts. The doctor merely counts his or her money." (quoted from InformationGospel.net)

No Christian needs the reason

It's wrong because killing the innocent unborn child is wrong. God says it's wrong. It's also extremely unnatural for a mother to kill her child. It is all a result of a fallen world, but someone has to say it is wrong no matter who feels guilty. Guilt is the only way that any of us turn to God for salvation.

Life does not begin and end with this physical existence. I can not make the choices for another or choice their path. I believe in respect for life in all of it's stages.

Ofcourse it is not wrong. If someone does not want a child, surely they should have the choice to terminate it? The child does not have a conscious (as we understand it) so can not be afraid of death, we are faced with a population that is rising too quickly so why make people have children they didnt plan for and hence wont give the care and attention the child needs to grow up.

The argument "its wrong because it is illegal" is a flawed argument. Smoking cannabis is illegal though you will be hard pushed to find anyone aged 14-35 who hasnt tried it.

James: How do we know that an unborn child does not have a conscience? When do you believe the soul or essence comes into being?

Now as for your cannabis comment. I am twenty-nine and my husband is 32, and neither of us have smoked.

If someone is un-born and under the age you are allowed to abort at (about 2 months) they are basically a small bunch of cells about the size of and the physical development of a rat. They do not have a true conscious- as in they dont think, or understand where they are etc.. By sticking a needle into it it simply closes its eyes. Do you view contraception as abortion? as your still stopping the child from being born. what if a 12 yer old girl gets raped, is she allowed an abortion. what if shes 16? what if shes 30? id she dosnt want a baby she shouldnt have to have one.

NB- i dont particulary agree or disagree with abotion i just like a good debate. Though abotion shoud definetly be allowed in special circumstances

Terminating a life for convenience sake may be allowable under the laws in this country but it certainly doesn't make it allowable under the laws that everyone will be held accountable to one day.
What if you were trouble to your mother from the day you were born and she decided she really didn't want a child anymore? She needed to "find herself" or have the peaceful life she always dreamed of. Should she put an end to you? You would simply close your eyes and not be a bother to anyone anymore. That would help the population problem too. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> ( Just as an example of course

she could put me up for adoption.

Also after the first few months of pregnancy conscious and a sence of being develop. before the time (two months)abortion becomes illegal the child dosnt have a conscious or think etc... t is just a collection of cells much like a tree or plant. it does not think therefore it is not (as opposed to i think therefore i am)

How about your great grandmother who may possibly lose her mind 10 or so years before she dies? She would be an incovenience. She might not even know anyone was there taking care of her.
Sorry James, I don't think you have a concept of what life is, but I want you to start thinking outside of popular politically correct ethics.

I believe the soul is the determining factor of life for a body. I also believe the soul is present at conception.
