I taught myself with the benefit of Cat Bordi's book. I was stuck at the gusset instructions (partly because I was working from my carry along copy of the instructions instead of the book which has photos - duh). I took the sock to meetup at my LYS. The owner said a few magic words and they were all I needed to move past the rough spot.
I like Boye products and I have Boye circs in larger sizes but I haven't really used them yet--their purchase was part of my knitting toy collecting habit . For the purpose of sock on circs, I bought a couple of other well known circs that didn't work as well as the Addis (NAYY). In fact, I was ready to give up. Then I bit the bullet and bought the Addis as Cat Bordi highly recommends them. You're sliding the stitches on and off the needle quite often and the join is as smooth as "buttah".
Enjoy your knitting weekend!
