We are building a new house, and I recently read somewhere that having stairs that lead out the front door is not a good thing (it's like a river, allowing all the energy to run out the door). But I recall there is a way to counteract that by either adding a crystal above the doorway or to use a earthtone runner up the stairs to "ground" it. I prefer the crystal idea, but don't know what kind to use...any suggestions?

Thanks!

...your chi will run out the door?

I usually either do the traditional cure of hanging a round, lead-cut, clear crystal ball somewhere between the bottom step and the door. I also run red tape or something else red across the bottom step or hang the crystal ball on a red cord (to bounce positive energy) and with the intention that your Chi will not cross the red line and go out the door.

Place a symbol (or pair of symbols) either side of the base of the stairs that represent protection to you. Solid objects will help to impede the flow of Chi out the door. When there is no room to do this, consider a mobile from the ceiling to help circulate the Chi.

Stairways need to be well lit, wide, with high ceilings. It is always best to have the bottom few stairs at a right angle (90 degrees) in relation to the front door.

I hope this helps some....

Remember: A stairway directly opposite the front door also allows most of the Chi to rush through and up to the next level causing the ground floor to "starve".

Mirrors, windchimes, potted plants or screens are ways of slowing down the movement of Chi. Chi needs to meander through your home. At best, stairs should be curved but "soften" angles using plants or mirrors too.

In order to deflect enough Chi to flow up to the next floor of your home, place plants beneath the stairs to help move Chi upwards. A skylight over the stairs will also help!

Now look, you've gotten me started on Feng Shui.....LOL
