Kitty has 6 points! Go Kitty!

Today's question:

What 1941 Congressional Act appropiated funds to establish nursery schools for the children of mothers who were working in the war effort?

Jeez you post some hard questions! I've been looking on the web and through the Thomas directory and can't find anything

Wow, I'm learning some fascinating things, though. Did you realize in 1941 that a third of all households still cooked with wood or coal, and many still required water to be lugged in from a well or pond? And these women were all being hounded to work full time because the men were all off at war, so they didn't even have a husband at home to help! Talk about a lot of chores!

I'm sorry! I really thought this would be an easy question to find the answer too. I'll find some easier questions.

Can you imagine having to do laundry without an automatic machine? Much less the poor women who had a bunch of kids.

The Federal Lanham Act of 1941 with regard to Education.

(Sorry, there was another Lanham (trademark)Act of 1946 was what I came across when I questioned my answer earlier and I caved.)

Kitty you had me worried there when you retracted the Lanham Act.

I hope everyone finds today's question a bit easier.

Today's Question:

What year did the Elementary and Secondary Education Act fund the Head Start program?

You know Lisa, I heard somewhere that even with all our modern conveniences, that it still takes a person the same amount of time to clean and do laundry as it did back when things were scrubbed by hand... I really don't think that's true! I mean, while it takes all day to do laundry, you can do other things as well... and it only takes a few minutes to clean my kitchen floor with my cool cleaner thingy! But it takes hours to scrub by hand

1965??

Kitty

PS: I used a hand washtub and wringer and line to wash clothes for several years while my family lived in Panama (the country). It was backbreaking, hard on the hands, time consuming and all-consuming (thought-wise, etc.) for ME. If you didn't do it correctly and pay attention, you not only didn't clean the clothing properly but you could get seriously injured!! Yikes...(hopefully) NEVER again!
