Type II Diabetes is on the upswing and the distressing part of it is that children are more and more often afflicted, some as young as 8 or 9!
However, something I didn't know was that Gestational Diabetes, onset during pregnancy and then disappearance after the birth, has more serious ramifications. Many expectant women are warned to watch their weight and eat properly until the baby is born.
They are not always told that both they and their babies have a greater chance of contracting diabetes sometime in the future.
Maybe more prevention should be practiced than trying to mitigate symptoms when the worst case senario arrives.
