Blazej,
Now you have me confused.. I would have written it the same way that Dee did.. I was always under the impression that Pan was a man and Pani a woman.. But then again.. Yeah,, Panie yep that sounds good too. Sounds a lot like PANOWIE
Ok Blazej, I asked this question in another thread.. Skowroneczek Ok , so it is a little bird.. But what kind? Sparrow, canary???

And I have partialy answered on this question. It's a diminutive form of skowronek and this is lark in english. And słowik is the nightingale.

And as for "panie" it's "pan" in the 7th case (uhm... przypadek in polish) called "the caller"

Yes, indeed it's horrible for people who try to learn polish... A quite famous german, Steffen Moeller who has been living in Poland for 8 years by now, said as he once came across a monument od Adam Mickiewicz, and there was written "Adamowi Mickiewiczowi Rodacy" (or sth like that ) And he was thinking if it's a realtive of Adam Mickiewicz, since they had quite similar names
But don't worry about being perfect with the cases, we have a cooking show of an half-french man Pascal Brodnicki in our TV and he's constantly making mistakes in the cases

And to cheer you up fully, in one week I have an exam in a class called Kultura Języka Polskiego (Polish Language Culture) and it's all about the cases, making the names of citizens from the town names, the adjectives out of them... And I must say... It's soooooooooo difficult! After each class I have a feeling I don't know my mother tongue at all

Valefor - how good point! the declination of Polish language is difficult for a foreigner to grasp! Lets move this discussion to a new thread if you all do not mind:

Frank asked me for this also, since he was the original creator of this discussion!

Hi there again

Sorry for a delay, but I finally have a time to catch up on reading the forum.

I'll more than happy to assist you with your discovery of Polish (Poland as well).

I live in Debica, Podkarpackie voivodship (wojewodztwo Podkarpackie).

English is second of my biggest hobbies (the first being Pratchett books).

Huge thanks for a warm welcome.
