You might want to check out: Akira Kurosawa's Throne of Blood, it's Macbeth but Japanese style.

A newer, sort of odd, movie is Samurai Fiction. Very different movies, there are so many...I love Japanese movies too.

fish Hi from a newby - I was wondering if anyone had ever seen the movie "Seven Samurai" ? It seems it was as big as <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> "The Godfather" in its time.

"Seven Samurai" is one of my favorite movies. It was remade in America as "The Magnificent Seven" starring Yul Brynner.

Hi!
Does anyone know about the "Tora-san" series of Japanese films? they were (are) great. The lead actor is dead now; but they're very funny. Tora-san is a travelling salesman, who always loses the girl. He's always getting into one scrape or another; but he had a heart of gold. Always helping the damsel in distress.

BTW, the Ring is so scarey!!!! We bought a collection of Japanese horror movies DVDs, but have yet to go through them yet.
