About 1 year ago my daughter dyed her brown and had golden blond highlights...they were fading and roots were going back to its original black...(we're Pacific Islander, if that makes a difference in hair texture etc.) Over 2 weeks ago my daughter dyed her hair black. She thought she liked the color but turns out she doesn't. So after two weeks, we dyed it medium brown. The brown basically didn't "touch" her black dye. Although we saw hues of brownish/reddish all over. We visited our local beauty supply store and asked friends and family what we should do. My daughter wanted to go back to her brown and highlights. We were told to bleach it. We bought all the products (Wellite, 40% peroxide, brushes, etc.) and we dyed it. Perhaps we didn't leave it in long enough, but it turned an orangy/brownish color with patches of orange/copper tones in different areas. Not only that, but it made her hair very straw-like texture. We read to condition it and try re-bleaching it after about 24 hours. We are about to attempt the re-bleaching now. My questions are: is this safe? is this recommended? Afterwards, can we apply the medium brown dye and perhaps highlights?
My daughter has learned her lesson (as I have) NEVER EVER to dye your hair black EVER again! That is a huge mistake and we are paying for it right now.
