Hi there!
I'm hoping you all can help me.
I have dry frizzy long hair full of split ends and breakage from heat damage from curling irons and blow dryers.
I want so badly to have nice healthy smooth straight hair!
I really think that's impossible for me though.
I do NOT want to cut all my hair off because I hate my hair short, besides I have split ends and breakage up to the tip top of my head.
I condition it like crazy but I still have to blow dry it because I'm always on the run. I also want it straight so I straighten it with a curling iron. I know I'm just causing more damage but I HATE it even worse if I don't do all this to it.
I try using protective conditioning spray and creams before my heat usage but it doesn't seem to help.
Any advise for my severely damaged hair?
Thanks!

Hello FrizzyHead!
Keep conditioning with good quality conditioners.- Moisturizers and some protein.

I used to have problems with frizzy hair. I blow dry and straighten my hair almost every time I wash it. And now it smoothes out beautifully.

It is harder to smooth when it is long but long hair almost always takes more care. Make sure you get regular trims to get rid of split ends because they only get worse.

I emailed you with some suggestions as to products. fish

I do have a question though... is there any help for my hair and the split ends since I have them all the way up to the top of my hair.
How do you straighten your hair?
THANKS!!!!

Hi!
I thought I would give my tips on frizzy hair.
I have VERY thick somewhat coarse long curly/wavy hair. I hate wearing it curly/wavy. It is curly around the head and then wavy in the middle-back. So, needless to say I straighten it whenever I can.
I have been straigtening it for so long now, that I can get it almost perfectly straight with only a good brush. When I first started doing it in my teens, I would have to use a brush and a curling iron (flat irons werent the "thing" yet). Now, I just use some good straigtening product (I like Redken), a good round brush (it pays to pay more money for this), and a little shine product at the end to grease up the hair a bit and calm it down so it is shiny (I like Bed Head product for this).
Once in a while if I cant get it perfectly straight that day (you know how finicky hair is) I will use a flat iron.
It is sooooo important to get regular trims when you do this much damage to your hair. It makes all the difference. I go no longer than 6 weeks in between trims. And you only need to get a little bit of the ends snipped off each time, just to keep it fresh.
Another tip is the one that hairstylists have been telling me for years-if you straighten, dont wash your hair everday! When I was in my teens I could go every other day without washing, and it would actually look better on the in-between day. Now that I am in my late twenties, I think my hair or body has changed, because my hair just gets too greasy to not wash every day (or maybe the different products I use now). But if you can, dont wash your hair every day, that will save on time, energy, and your hair condition.
Also VERY good conditioner helps. But I dont think it necessarily helps with actually putting vitamins and stuff back in your hair, but for me it just helps make my hair has silky as possible-making it easier to blow out my hair.
And where I live in the summer-it gets hot and humid, and basically, I have come to an understanding with my hair, that it is not going to be straight throughout much of the summer-that is just the fact! So, I have accepted that (LOL) and just grin and bear it with the curly hair for most of the summertime. Of course, you get a few not-so-humid days in there, and I live for those!!! LOL
Good luck-let me know if you have any questions for me, I would be more than happy to answer them. I am obsessed with this topic! queen

I have super-curly hair (white girl with a red fro) and my hair looks so much better if I don't wash it every day. But since I live in a very hot and humid climate it gets so icky if I don't wash it regularly. I compromise by just applying the shampoo to the roots at the crown of my head where it feels the ickiest and greasiest, then conditioning the whole head. Makes a big difference!
