i have incredibly thick shoulder length hair, and LOTS of it. i can never wear it down because it always gets so poofy and big. the majority of my life i have worn my hair in a pony tail. i have never been able to just take a shower and go with my hair looking good. i have tried doing different things to my hair to be able to wear it down like straightening it, scrunching it, or putting products in it. straightening my hair takes over 45 minutes to get it to look good, and its exhausting and terrible for my hair. i tried scrunching it for the first time this week, and both times it looked great wet but when it dried it got big and weird and just didnt look good. i also used to get out of the shower, let it air dry half way, put straightening gel in it, and then sleep on it to get it to flatten. maybe my hair is just hopeless, but i would LOVE if anyone knew anything i could do to my hair that isnt terrible for it, is relatively easy, and doesnt take hours to do. thanks! :rolling:

It does seem like you have tried everything.
But I have some suggestons that might make a difference.

When I scrunch hair like yours, I put LOTS of product on it and then I don't dry it all the way. I use seerum and cremes - often together- Anything that is made to control frizz without getting stiff.
I don't touch it untill it is completely dry.

I have found that using a ceramic flat iron works so much better than any other kind.

I use lots of moisturizing conditioner.

I hope these tips offer some help. fish

i do use a ceramic iron, but it rips out my hair and still takes forever  when i tried scrunching it the first time, i didnt use much product so the second time i tried i used a lot, maybe too much. it got sort of hard in places and just didnt look right. my hair is pretty naturally wavy so i dont know why its not working well. maybe because i used mousse, and i should be using something else? any way thanks a bunch, i'm going to try your suggestions.

Yesterday when I went to the beauty shop the beautician Mrs. V. Thompson fixed my hair where it was going towards the back off my face so my face/cheekbones would be highlited more and curled my hair loose in the back.

I did like the hairstyle very much so now I will and can wear my hair in another style if I choose to.

Sugar, I really love Bed Head's Small Talk. It's a smoothifier and thickifier that's great for anti-frizz. Also good is Paul Mitchell's leave in conditioner. (This is Tigi/Bed Head's website, btw: http://www.tigihaircare.com/uk/products/ There's a sweepstakes running at the New Age Chanel to win $50 worth of hair care produts, bath salts, aromatherapy candles, teas, and so on--including Bed Head products.)

What I'm using right now is Vavoom's Beam. http://www.matrix.com/products/vavoom/beam_shine_gloss.aspx I put it on after I curl my hair and it adds amazing shine, as well as being anti-frizz. (I just got a perm last week, so I really needed it!) It's iridescent in the container, so it's really funky. Love it!

Hope that helps from someone who sometimes needs frizz help.

I have thick naturally curly hair (see photo at left; curls even when short) and I like Palmolive's anti-kink hair conditioner. It is tamed down after that
