This article from Yahoo news paints an unfortunate picture of vegetarians.

I feel that the use of the term "strict vegetarian diet" is misleading in this article because basically what the parents fed their child is a bad diet. Period. Cod liver oil and ground nuts <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I do think that what these particular parents were doing was reckless, but I have read many articles and personal anecdotes where vegetarians and vegans have raised healthy, thriving children.

Sigh. Another small step backward for veg*ans everywhere due to one couple's ignorance.

Yikes!! And most pediatricians are telling parents NOT to feed their kids nuts until they're 3 or older, because so many kids are allergic to them now and it's better to try them out when they have enough body mass to withstand the shock if there is a problem.

So they're giving this kid like no vegetables and fruits at all?? That's not healthy for an adult, never mind a child that's trying to grow all of its body parts ...
