I have tons of frequent flier miles that I've saved up over the years with USAir, and I just heard that they're in a shaky situation and are even considering bankruptcy. I'm really worried about losing them and want to go somewhere interesting that would normally cost a lot! Nowhere is really striking me though. I'd want to go either somewhere in the US or in Europe.

I actually just looked at flights to Bordeaux France and for some reason they're way up over $800!! Are airline fees just super high right now for some reason? If so, maybe I should just use the tickets to go to France ...

I saw a segment on the Today show about how airline prices are shooting up right now for the summer travel season.

I've never been to Bordeaux, but I loved Paris.

I've been to Edinburgh, Scotland at about this time of year, and that is another great place to visit. Edinburgh is small enough to be cozy, but there are still plenty of things to see and do. We also took a day tour through the Highlands, but I would recommend going on a longer jaunt. The landscape is amazing, I've honestly never seen anything quite so breathtaking.

I think our Romance Books host just got back from Scotland and says she loved it My sister wants to go there in the fall though and I think she'd be jealous if I snuck out there. We've been to Ireland twice which normally would have been my first choice ... the downside of France is that I don't speak French But my boyfriend took several years of it in high school so hopefully we can get by ...

The best day to check on prices or purchase airline tickets is on a Wednesday.

Did you find a good deal?

If you can get the seats this would be a good exhange for your miles. Another idea is to transfer them to a hotel program such as Starwood (Sheraton Hotels).
