Which version did you like better, the early one with Faye or the later one with Pierce Brosnan? I have the later one on DVD and just recently saw the earlier one on cable ...

I like the later version. The earlier one strikes me as too involved proving Steve McQueen's superiority over Faye Dunaway.

I got that sense too, that in the current movie they were more of equal partners, both smart and intelligent and able to hold their own. Although at the very end, even in the second movie it was Pierce pulling all the strings ...

I infinitely prefer the earlier version, mostly because the newer version hopelessly attempted to hammer the characters into paragons of virtue and morality. The older film was much more ambiguous. Pluse, I really liked the multiple squares in one scene - whatever that technique is called. Also good for the sexiest chess scene in cinema.

That being said, I really loved Rene Russo's performance in the later version.

I've only seen the earlier one. I've heard the original is great though! And I agree Drummond, Rene Russo was great!

Definitely see the original. Fay Dunawaye was at her best.

Was it before or after Bonnie & Clyde?
