I lived in Mass. for a year and I have to agree that autumn is the best time of year. Miles of rolling hills full of color.
I couldn't get used to the winters, when I couldn't see the street after they shoveled the sidewalks. The piles on each side of the walk were over my head. <img src="/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

I kid of like to expand on that NancyM.
It has been my feeling that Labor Day to Thanksgiving are the best of the best.

But, then again, 'moose season' up north on route 3 just before the border is a lot of fun. Always wonder about people going up to a full grown moose in rut season asking it to stand still so they can take its picture.

Hi
I live in Southern England and hope to visit Boston this Summer
Can anyone give me any advice? Is it better to go with a tour operator or book independently?
I really would like to meet people and make friends - I suppose I would like to see the real States not just the touristy bits.

I would like your advice
many thanks

Hi, Suzie,

That's great that you'll be visiting Boston! Will you be traveling alone or with other people? What kind of activities are you interested in?

Let me know - it will help me to answer your question.

My favorite season is spring. There is nothing like coming out of a cold winter back into the garden. There is a wonderful bittersweetness to spring, since it is so short-lived here. But I'm not talking vernal equinox, mind you, since here in NH that's still winter in my book! I'm talking MAY! My second favorite is Fall. Right now there's no leaf-turning activity just yet, but it's right around the corner.
