Vote for your favorite season to be in New England? Is it summer, with hiking and camping and swimming? Or colorful autumn? Or winter, with snow and skiing and huddling around a fire? Or spring, when the trees and flowers start to bud?

Let us know which one is your favorite - and why!

I've lived in Seacoast NH my whole life. and with out a doubt hands down my favorite time of year is the first two weeks of October, when the air is perfect at night, slightly chilly, but crisp and it smells sooo good. & The days are warm, but you still get to wear a sweater if you want.
Granted the tourists run rampant and drive bout 5 mph in a 50 zone...but I'd have to say that it's worth it. (it's also the best time of year to go camping =])

I love New England in general because the seasons are ALL so cool. I chose fall because the crisp coolness is so wonderful, the leaves are gorgeous and you can still go outside. The humid hot summer is gone. But all of the seasons are great. I love spring with everything blooming and growing, and all the baby birds. I love summer on the ocean, biking in the woods. And I love winter, skiing and fireplaces and such. All of the seasons are wonderful. I really wouldn't like living somewhere that was "the same" or just "hot / rainy" alternately.

I am from Australia and was lucky enough in 2000 to be able to visit Boston to meet for the first time Family that lived there, i also went to newyork and conneticut, but if i could live in another place other than my own fabulous Sydney for part of the year it would be Boston! it was the most amazing place i have ever been and i would definatly put it up there with Ireland another beautiful place to go! not only was Boston beautiful but all the surrounding areas we went through were gorgeous and my family had a holiday place in Plum Island which was amazing, but if one thing was going to get me there in a Hurry it would be to get a beautiful Bread Bowl of New England Clam Chowder!!!! Oh MY Gosh what a taste sensation that stuff is, still to this day i dream about it lol if someone could send me a bowl that would be great lol

tashapasha72,
Boston is an amazing place! My family and I were just visiting Salem and Peabody, north of Boston, and what a beautiful area! I hope that you get back to visit the area soon, and get your Clam Chowder!

We were just out in Seattle for a week and I found that area lovely, but it was SO nice to return to the rolling hills, ocean, forests, and other landscapes of New England. It's very "comforting" feeling to me. We don't have vast deserts with no water. We don't have gigantic hurricanes that destroy homes. We don't have earthquakes either. We are very "safe" and cozy <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Ladies,

There is an old saying that if you were born in New England you will return to die in New England. If you travel, your soul never leaves here.

Skeeter,

you are right! I was born in Massachusetts, lived in Texas for 5 years (in my 20s), North Carolina, etc. but did not feel "right" until I came back to New England.

But then I went to Poland (where my ancestors are from) and WOW - I was really home!

Otherwise, I agtree with Wendy, the first two weeks of October in NE are perfect.
