I am having a terrible time getting rid of ants in the yard and around the sidewalk area. I have tossed the "moth balls" and planted some mint. Still there are several large and small black ants.
Recently I tried to re-hang the hummingbird feeder, only to see large golden brown ants flocking to or floating in the feeder.
Help ! how can I rid the yard of these pests?

I had terrible ant problems in the yard when I lived in Santa Cruz, CA. I tried a mixture of brown sugar, molassas and active yeast that I got out of an article on natural pest control. Well-blended, they will take the mixture back to the nest and eat the yeast. It grows in their bodies and kills them. If you don't blend it well, they will just carry off the sugars and leave the yeast.

Rae, I have a coffee grinder that should blend the brown sugar and yeast well. The molassas will probably be a trial and error thing. Question: Since the brown sugar and yeast are somewhat the same texture, are equal parts of these used? As this is what I intend to do.
This is worth a try plus it will not destroy the enviroment. Thanks for the tip.
Many Blessings
