What were your favorite purchases on an online auction? I got 2 long Indian dresses that I love, and I got a lovely Japanese doll. I definitely wouldn't have found either set in regular shopping.

I don't think that any of my purchases have been extremely rare. However, my digital camera was very inexpensive and had only been used one time.

It was also an investment because now I use it take pics of all of my items for sale!

Sshhh, school clothes. I've been able to purchase all of my daughter's Levi's for next to nothing. (and that includes shipping)

Mine is a bit silly....... I got a hold of original my little ponies.. I used to LOVE playing with those! Now that I'm older and I can't find them any more... I found sites that sell them, people sell them on ebay for really cheap! ah, to relive childhood

I get some great deals on computer and presentation equipment for my school. Right now we're focusing on lcd projector panels that go on overhead projectors.

We've bought a lot of videos. My favorite is The Scarlet Pimpernel. The version with Anthony Andrews and Jane Seymour. The newer one is not nearly as good. "Sink me" - I LOVE that movie.

But my favorite thing that happened on Ebay was when I actually made some money. My son gave some boxes of my old art books to his father-in-law, Al, who regularly sells yard sale stuff at online auctions. I'd been hauling those books around for years and rarely looked at them.

Al doesn't generally make a ton of money on what he sells. So he was really impressed when the bidding on my Chagal book of pictures from the bible went up to around $200. But that was before it got hot and heavy.

That evening my daughter-in-law went to check out what the book had sold for. $2020. She was flabbergasted eek and called her parents. Her Mom said Al was resting. She said that once the bidding had really gotten going, he kept calling to her in the next room, "Come look - it's over $400!" "Now it's over $600!" He just couldn't take all the excitement and had to lay down and take a nap when it was all over and the book had sold for over $2000!

We all had a good laugh.

I've gotten lots of orchid plants and orchid-related items from eBay auctions. It's a great place to find back issues of specialty magazines, too. I once sold a dollhouse miniature magazine for close to $100 after finding it dumped into a box of assorted junk at a miniatures shop. Sometimes you just get lucky

Fish tanks, fish heaters, fish filters, fish books, fish tank decor, back issues of fish magazines...even fishes themselves...it's a good place for fish-obsessed people like me.

Also some dog and guinea pig and mouse supplies (i have many pets), as well as Xena videos.
