What I did today is get on a bus and go to visit the house and gardens of what was built as a Palladian villa nearly three hundred years ago. As it happened the "kitchen garden" was having an open day so that was a bonus. The trust that maintains it and its volunteers do a splendid job. It's quite beautiful. Except for that bit, the grounds are a public park and there were plenty of people - and dogs - who had come to enjoy a pleasant morning there.
