This morning was a birder's paradise in my back yard. Keetowah was squawking, so I went out to say hello. Poppa Woodpecker was in the live oak. Our little sapsuckers had a successful clutch this year too. One of their young was having a hard time maintaining a grasp on the camphor tree bark. The little one kept slipping down the trunk with wings awkwardly flapping.
It was one of those cute moments to enjoy without concern. Momma Sapsucker was nearby. We had two pair of cardinals and quite a few other song birds. Even my neighbor was out with her daughter. I'm not sure what they were looking at with the binoculars.
We finally got the grass cut in the backyard yesterday, so there was good bug pickings for our feathered friends.
