Phyllis, I thought about emailing you this, or adding it on to the current Tibet thread going in the Buddhism forum, but then decided to post it here, as others may be interested too. If it's too off-topic, please remove and I'll add it there instead! I have recently been reading about the correspondences between the Hopi and Tibetan cultures, I guess this was first put forth in The Book of the Hopi by Frank Waters. One of the connections is that the Hopi's Black Mesa and the Tibetan sacred mountain Mt. Kailash are exactly opposite each other on the earth, and that several words in the two cultures 'mirror' each other. The Dalai Lama has met with Hope elders several times, and many people feel there are profound similarities between the creation stories and rituals of the two cultures. I had heard about these connections years ago, but only recently started researching them again, potentially for an article. Have you read anything about this, or do you have any recommended resources?

Thomas O. Mills has written a book he titled, The Truth, regarding a connection between the Hopi and Egypt and Tibet. I have not read it, but it is on my list of "books to read". The Hopi, during their centuries of travel after emergence from the first three worlds, is explained in detail in Frank Waters The Book Of The Hopi, which is like a Bible to the present day Hopi. I do not know enough about the possible connections with Tibet, but, that may explain why I feel it right to combine Buddhism beliefs with Native American for a peaceful belief system of my own. Research into the Tibet/Hopi would be very interesting and enlightening, I am sure. Maybe you and I can corroborate on some research and articles on this subject.

These are interesting points to ponder:
If you went straight through the Hopi Reservation to the other side of the world, you would come out in Tibet. The Tibetan word for sun is the Hopi word for moon, and the Hopi word for sun is the Tibetan word for moon.
This could explain the Hopi story of Emergence. They emerged from a hole in the ground. Is this how they could have originally come from Tibet which is at the exact opposite of the Hopi Reservation?
"When the iron eagle flies and horses run on wheels, the Tibetan people will be scattered over the earth and the dharma will go to the land of the red man." --- Padmasambhava, 8th c.
"When the iron bird flies, the red-robed people of the East who have lost their land will appear, and the two brothers from across the great ocean will be reunited." -- Hopi Prophecy
The Hopi believe Emergence to the Fifth World has already begun. The Dalai Lama has visited the Hopi in their land. The Dalai Lama and the Tibetan Buddhists have lost their land in Tibet.
In the Hopi prophecy it says:
"My people await Pahana, the lost White Brother, (from the stars) as do all our brothers in the land. He will not be like the white men we know now, who are cruel and greedy. we were told of their coming long ago. But still we await Pahana.
"He will bring with him the symbols, and the missing piece of that sacred tablet now kept by the elders, given to him when he left, that shall identify him as our True White Brother."
These tablets are kept in Tibet. It sounds to me as if the "True White Brother" is the Dalai Lama.
