I was happy to find this forum after googling ideas for our member guest tournament. I am the chairperson for our event this year and am looking for a good idea as a theme. (I thought I was volunteering to head up the Rally For a Cure Tournament, but obviously wasn't paying enough attention!) I haven't played in very many Member Guest Tournaments and would love some help! Thanks.

There are several ways to run this type of tournament. Contact your Pro and see what help you can get as to suggestions on type of play. We have used Scrambles and there are several different ways to play a scramble either four person or two person. You can also just play a handicap event and your Pro could help you with this as making up the cards, score board and announcing winners.

We also have used a theme so we could have our decorations and meal around this theme. We have used Western, Hawaii or Crazy Days and once your committee works on a theme the events falls into place. It also depends on the committee to talk up your event to get a good member registration. You will need a deadline to plan food and prizes. Your Pro will let you know what their charges will be so that will decide your overall cost.

These types of tournaments are fun and more relaxed than say the Club Championship Event. Make it easy and talk it up to your membership to get many to join in the fun.
