One of my favorite things is to read true ghost stories sent in by people. I am hoping that we can make a collection of ghost stories here that everyone can enjoy. It does not have to be about just ghosts, it can be about any paranormal phenomena as long as it is something that happened to you or someone close to you and you believe what they said is a true experience.

I will start with one of my stories.

I have chased after one of those dark shadow type entities on two different occasions. Once it happened at a place I later found out was a building rumored to have ghosts. I chased this person sized black shadow up stairs because I thought it was my sister. I ran up the stairs to find a locked door at the top of the stairs.

Another time at another house and place entirely, I chased another person sized black shadow up another set of stairs and down a completely dark hallway that I backed out of once I realized there was no one upstairs but me in the dark room at night. Funny thing is I wasn't scared either time. It seemed like a playful spirit both times.

My mom and my sister have both had experiences with seeing something. Not sure what. Not too long ago my cousin's wife of about 35 years died. He came to visit my mom and my mother saw a "form" kind of following him around out of the corner of her eye. It became more and more clear as time when on until she could see a vague form of a woman.

My sister's house is also a spot where things have happened. Her 3 year old grand daughter came downstairs one day and asked "who is that man in the bathroom?' Of course there wasn't any man. One day her grandson fell on the stairs and started crying. He said "That lady won't let me go upstairs" He was about 3 at the time also. My sister and her husband have both seen people walk by the windows when there's no one there and heard noises on the stairs. The weird thing is they built that house! They know no one ever lived there before then.

That person size black shadow is very intriguing. That happened to me once. I still lived in Athens and had a big old shepherd dog. Kim, she's the dog that my friend suggested could see Spirits. Anyway, was always up early in the morning. Her routine was to go out for her first pee of the day around 4:30 -5:00am. It was still dark, but way down the road was a street lamp light. I noticed a strange looking 'man' sitting on the curb. I watched him and when he got up I remember thinking "there's something not right with that guy....he looks one dimensional". He started walking toward me and it scared the bejabbers outa me. I still hadn't figured it out. I didn't either, till I told David about it and while I was telling the story it hit me. It was a Spirit I saw....not a man.

I have a friend whose mother passed when she (my friend) was 6 years old. Her mother was buried in a blue dress. Her nephew, who was just a bitty little thing....maybe 3 or so always talked about he lady in the blue dress. He never met her....she was gone long before he was born...but she seemed to be with him a lot when he was little.

When I first moved into this house, I avoided the front closet and the whole front room area because it felt like something was watching me all the time. All the time. I had a weird homemade closet that had cupboard doors and the upper doors didn't close all the way. I even started exercising in the dark with the lights out so it wouldn't watch me. But then that is when I seen him. He was a light man with a hairy face (beard and moustache) and red eyes. I was totally freaked out! He really liked watching me, it was gross! So now I couldn't even exercise in the dark cause he was right next to me!

I use to exercise with a couple of women so that we could stay in shape. We used exercise videos on the tv. One day, we kinda said "Nah, let's not exercise". As soon as we decided that, the TV turned on, the video machine turned on and started playing the exercise video! I think it was that red eyed guy! We all got freaked out, how did the TV and the video machine turn on just then?
But the final thing was that my friend came to visit me. I went to town to get something for us to eat. She was sewing on my sewing machine. I hadn't told her about the ghost in the corner. When I got home, she said "that man in the corner talked to me. He told me everything was going to be alright". Now that was freaky as I never even told her about him. She had traveled 2 hours to come to my house and there was no way of her knowing about him.
And then the next thing was that when she went to bed, she called out to me and said "Some little animal jumped on the bed". Some invisible little thing had jumped on her bed after she sat on it. I didn't get a chance to tell her that I kept seeing a little animal by me that I didn't quite know what it was, it was kinda invisible but I would catch glimpses of it in my house.

Freaky, huh? Oh, and I took the freaky closet down so that guy couldn't live in there anymore.

...The weird thing is they built that house! They know no one ever lived there before then.


In responce to the comment aboout the house being new...... The land has been there forever and maybe whatever this "thing " is, it's tied to the land or maybe even a structure that was there before. It may be an intresting thing to research.

I'm a newbie. This thread caught me intrest because I have been kinda wonderin' about my own home! I guess it all started when my husband and I moved into a new home. I was unpacking while he did a few quick erons, my father was there hooking up the washing machine and dryer and our heavy front swings open, yes it scares the hell outta me but we laugh it off as just the wind. The next day my mom and I are unpacking and I walk into the hall to get another box, their is this shadowy person standing by my doorway and what made it really weird is it didn't disappear like you usually hear people say it was like it was stareing at me for a goom 30 seconds or more! I know it sounds hard to beleive it {I probably wouldn't} but it happened! Lots more happened which led to us haveing to move.

Now we live in a different house about 3 to 4 streets down and ..... Well I guess I'll start at the begining again...The TV has turned off once or twice {no biggy} But the other morning my sister-in-law and I were in my kitchen when my daughters ball rolls across the kitchen stops...rolls to the left then stops... then rolls to the right about 3 times. Now I know even houses on cement slabs settle but there was a definate pause almost like a child playing. Then today I was in the kitchen when my kids were takeing their nap I thought I saw someone walking kinda to the side of me out the corner of my eye. When I turned around to get on to my daugther there was no one there. But I thought I was seeing things from still being kinda freaked out about the ball thing, at least until my sister-in law comes running out of the kitchen saying my house is haunted . Shehad seen the same thing as me except it had passed in front of the window and disturbed the blinds! Pretty hard to shake off. What should I do?! Also I have some pictures of "orbs" takin' in this home. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

I had an experience with a family down the way from us who were reporting orbs and doors slamming, drawers opening etc. This had happened sooner or later at each of the homes they lived in and they moved around alot as they were a military family.
After sussing out the house a bit, another friend and I settled in one room that seemed "right" and we were able to learn a fair bit about those spirits making the ruckus. They were actually part of a spiritual entourage that followed this family wherever they went. There was one particular spirit that cared for the man and another for the woman. We had the sense there were others too. All were benign and had a strong sense of commitment to caring for this family. They laughed at our notion that they were displaced and ought to "go to the light" etc! The really neat thing was that until we were in this conversation and each "spirit" was coming forward, the others hadn't known other spirits existed for this family. They were surprised and delighted to know that they weren't alone in their task. I was surprised by this revelation too. I thought everyone on that "other" plane would be aware of every other spirit. Apparently not so.
Anyway, we asked politely that the spirits would tone it down a bit because they were really freaking out the kids in particular. They did, and the family was happier in knowing that they had someone looking out for them. The spirits said that moving really shook them up. They had to relearn everything. They didn't really even enjoy it when furniture got moved.
Perhaps you have perpetual company too from house to house. If they are scaring you, ask them to back off a bit. If you feel comfortable in sharing your home with them, you can say so, and feel free to add a few house rules too. If you aren't comfortable with them being around, you might invite them to leave, but give them a place to go to if you can. Good luck.

One of two things have happened either the spirits followed you when you moved or you are haunted.

This is going to sound super weird.

I used to move a lot when I was little and there was this lady who read me stories at night when I had nightmares. It seemed like she was made of light and she was really tall. At least she always seemed tall when I was little. After I stopped moving all the time she disappeared.
