Here's a little tip that's sort of related, from the Technical Editors of my upcoming book, Virginia Blakelock and Carol Perrenoud of
BeadCats.
When you do beadwork, weave with a single strand of thread, rather than a double strand folded over. Double-strand thread (where you string the needle onto the center of the thread) is much more likely to tangle as you work.
To weave beads with a single strand, string on your needle several inches from one end of the thread, then fold over the short end of thread and hold it onto the needle with your fingers as you work.
This also makes it much easier to correct mistakes, since you can temporarily remove your needle if you need to remove some beads.
